For this New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) project, KC performed work for the environmental assessment, utility relocation, drainage design, accident analysis, and surveying. The head of KC’s geotechnical engineering group worked on this project as an employee of another firm. The geotechnical scope included geotechnical investigations, design and analysis of new embankment, slope stability analysis, development of staged construction to stabilize soft soils and models for utility protection, sheet pile design to support embankment during the temporary phase, and evaluation of existing subsurface soils to determine reasons for continued settlement issues.
